Local 478 Buys 1918 WFD Ladder Truck

Local 478 Bringing 1918 WFD Ladder Truck Home.

Waco Firefighters have purchased a 1918 American LaFrance wooden aerial ladder truck that long ago rolled along the streets of Waco.  The truck has been in a barn in Robinson for a number of years, but recently the owner of the property decided to part ways with the truck.  Having seen numerous historical treasures of the Waco Fire Department slip away in the past, members made a motion for Local 478 to purchase the rig at the June meeting, with the hopes of restoration, and a sense of community pride.  The vehicle will be moved from the barn in Robinson in the coming weeks and will be housed at Central Fire Station while a plan for the restoration is being developed.  A 1924 Seagrave engine that the Local already owns, is also being looked at for restoration.  An account will be set up very soon to allow anyone interested in donating money to help in restoring this amazing piece of history.  Time, equipment, and expertise dontations would also be appreciated.  Check back with Local 478 Online soon for updates!
